LASER THERAPY |
The term LASER is the acronym or abbreviation
for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The
specific method of treatment by using intense beams of light focus
for virtually cut, burn or destroy tissues is medically known as the
Laser Therepy. The light beams of Laser are actually generated from
the radiation sources in so smaller and safer that it poses
absolutely no health risk both to the patient or the attending
medical professional’s team.
In this developed world nowadays, the Laser therepy or technology is
widely used in various medical purposes as the laser beams are so
small and accurate that it enables physicians to safely treat the
tissues without injuring the surrounding areas. Some of the most
common uses of laser therapy includes: retinal – eye surgery,
removal of growths and cauterization of blood vessels.
Types of Laser Therapy: Basically there are two main types of
laser therepy, Laser Trabeculoplasty and Laser Iridotomy.
Laser Trabeculoplasty: This laser therapy is widely used for
treating the open angle glaucoma and successfully diminishing the
eye pressure in some peculiar cases.
Laser Iridotomy: It is performed for treating or averting
acute angle closure and is given to avoid chronic angle closure from
deteriorating.
Importance: Laser radiation provides finest treatment in pain
reduction therepy, improvement in recovery and great efficacy levels
as compared to NSAIDs. It also has direct impact on immune system by
controlling the strength of lymphocytes and improving their
function. This therapy is the most perspective therepy of current
non-medication therapy.
Side Effects: Blemishing is known side effect of cutaneous
laser treatment and exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation is
believed to enhance scar formation.
